What Should You Do Next?

1. Call or Email Us

We will discuss your situation to understand your wants, needs and timeline. We will get all your info including the location of the homeless camp and if the camp has people sleeping at it or not.

2. Schedule a Free Walk-Through

We want to walk the camp in person (active or not) and you don’t need to be present if you don’t want to. We know it can scary especially if it is still an active camp. Walking through an active homeless camp can be very dangerous and we take serious precautions. We record video that we use to price the job making sure we see every tent and pile of trash so there are no new discoveries during the cleanup. Even if the camp is a little deep in the woods.  We are pretty good at finding the trash and tents. We utilize a parcel app to help stay within the property boundaries.

3. Sign the Estimate

You will receive an estimate via email within a day (maybe two if a large camp). You will be able to electronically sign the estimate if you choose to move forward with us.

4. Call Local Authorities to Schedule Removal of People

Each city and county has it’s own procedure of giving people notices to vacate the property. The amount of time between contacting the correct agency and them actually going onsite to post notices varies greatly. Some might be able to come out within a couple of days while other’s can take weeks to months. It’s usually 72 hour notices that needs to be given

5. Schedule the Cleanup

Most cleanups take 2-4 days and we can usually get started within 2-6 days, depending on the size, not weeks or months out like some other companies. The longer it takes for a decision to be made about doing a cleanup the higher the cost will go up due to more trash being brought onto the property. Trash from homeless camps don’t get smaller as time goes. The trash piles ALWAYS get bigger so make a decision quickly. If it keeps getting put off it will cost you more when it finally happens.

If the police are involved because the camp is active then we will want to coordinate the cleanup to start the same morning as the police plan to come to get everyone out.

5. The Day of the Cleanup

We will start right away in the morning getting the trash out. In most cases of an active homeless camp, there will still be people present in the morning. The police will give them a short amount of time to get off the property and we can start tossing trash pile while the people are gathering up their remaining belongings getting ready to leave.

Homeless Camp Cleanup FAQ's

1. How much does homeless camp cleanup costs?

The cost depends on the amount of trash we are disposing and how easily accessible it is. An average ballpark price will be between $2,000-$6,000 plus tax with a single tent camp being around $500-$900 plus tax. They can also be a lot of more expensive.

2. How long does a cleanup take?

Cleanups usually take anywhere from 2-4 days, but we have done cleanups that have taken multiple weeks.

3. Do you dispose of hazardous waste?

Yes, but we only take propane tanks, auto oil and paints as well as biohazard waste (needles, human waste). Propane is the main hazard waste we see at homeless camps. You never know what you might find at a camp until you start cleaning everything up. If we discovered a 5 gal container with some random chemical we would help research and coordinate for its proper disposal.

4. Should I try to clean the area myself?

You could. It would save you some money, but cost you a lot of time, energy and maybe your life!!! Well, maybe likely not your life, but there are a lot of dangers such as getting: stuck by a dirty needle, human feces splashing in your mouth, shot or stabbed, heat exhaustion, lost in the wood, eaten by a bear. I could go on… But in all seriousness, cleaning up homeless camps isn’t rocket science. It’s just hard, gross and can be dangerous so let us handle it for you because we love hard, gross and dangerous work and have years of experience getting it done efficiently.

5. When can the cleanup begin?

Homeless camp cleanup can usually be scheduled within 2-4 days (depending on the size).  Sometimes we can even get started the next day. We can of course schedule the cleanup for weeks or months out if that’s what you desire.

6. How long does a typical cleanup take?

Cleanups usually take anywhere from 1-3 days with most taking 1-2 days, but we have done cleanups that have taken up to two weeks.

7. Do you temporarily store personal belongings that are in good shape?

No. Everything is thrown into the dumpster and taken to the landfill. Private property owners don’t need to store personal belongings like some municipalities do because that property is public property. If you want to

8. Do you deal with biohazards that may be present?

Yes we do. Unlike some other normal junk removal companies, we understand that homeless camps have human waste, bodily fluids, needles, rotting food and rodents. We take all the safety precautions to keep everyone safe and to remove the biohazards.

9. Should I contact you to report a camp that is not on my property?

No, you should not unless you are willing to pay for a cleanup on your neighbor’s property or public property. Look up reporting homeless camps in your city or county and follow their protocol.
